While most Truman applicants have outstanding academic credentials, an application with outstanding academics, but little public service or leadership, will not be successful. Criteria: Shelton Family Scholarship (two awards of $1,750) The Truman foundation supports graduate study for college juniors with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to “making a difference” through public service in government, education, the nonprofit or advocacy sectors, or elsewhere in the public service. I don't think I can attend the Truman Scholars Leadership Week. Can I perform the service hours in more than one department? After your freshman year at Truman, scholarships are reviewed based on your cumulative Truman Grade Point Average (GPA). Criteria: Class of 2011 Accountancy Scholarship ($1,000) Some Scholars have pursued medical, physical science or even business degrees - but those Scholars were able to clearly demonstrate how these degrees would further their careers in public service.
If your scholarship is renewed with the service option, $550 of each semester’s total amount will be reflected on a W-2 form at the end of the calendar year. Scholarships are normally reviewed for renewal after spring semester grades are posted. This will provide you with a form that will need to be completed. Be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree with junior-level academic standing or have senior-level standing in the third year of college enrollment. If you wait until the beginning of the fall semester to begin the process it may take several weeks to finalize your scholarship. Once complete, they must be turned in to the Payroll Office, McClain Hall 105. If your first choice of a position does not have sufficient work for you to complete 58 hours in one semester, you are responsible for finding other positions to fulfill the requirement.
